Legendary R&B crooner Al B. Sure! shared some heartbreaking news with his fans regarding another 90’s R&B singer. He revealed that fellow heartthrob, Christopher Williams, is allegedly in a coma.

Al B. took to his social media and alerted fans to his family member’s condition with a post of the two together in happier times. “Please pray for my better-looking twin brother in a coma,” he wrote via his Instagram.

If you remember, Williams made a big splash with his hit “I’m Dreamin'” and in the movie, New Jack City with Ice-T and Wesley Snipes.

Williams had a number of songs chart high on the U.S. R&B charts during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, including hits like “Talk to Myself,” “Promises, Promises,” and “Every Little Thing You Do.” Williams has released four studio albums since his debut in 1989.

After a 6-year hiatus in music, he began doing some contributing work for other artists and movie soundtracks.

He has credits films Bulletproof, Butter, and Gunmen.

At the end of 1994, Williams was also part of the group Black Men United for the hit single “U Will Know” for the film Jason’s Lyric and its movie’s soundtrack album.

While we don’t know yet what put Williams in a coma, a follower commented under Al B.’s post saying that the New Jack Swing singer contracted COVID-19 last week, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Doctors across the U.S. and in other countries have noted a troubling phenomenon associated with some COVID cases: Even after extubation, some patients remain unconscious for days, weeks or longer.

There’s no official term for the problem, but it’s being called a “prolonged” or “persistent” coma or unresponsiveness.

Theories abound about why COVID-19 patients may take longer to regain consciousness than other ventilated patients, if they wake up at all.

COVID-19 patients appear to need larger doses of sedatives while on a ventilator, and they’re often intubated for longer periods than is typical for other diseases that cause pneumonia.

Low oxygen levels, due to the virus’s effect on the lungs, may damage the brain. Some of these patients have inflammation related to COVID-19 that may disrupt signals in the brain, and some experience blood clots that have caused strokes.

Although there were rumors that the two handsome light-skinned singers were brothers, in actually, Al B. Sure and Williams are cousins.

He is the nephew of legendary Jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, and a father to three children, one of whom he shares with actress Stacey Dash.

Williams has a son, Christopher Jr, who was born in 1988, from a relationship with a stylist. Williams has another son Austin, who was born in 1990, with actress Stacey Dash.

He also has a daughter, Cierra Barnes–Williams, born in 1993 from a relationship with Heather Barnes.
