Cynthia not only survived, she became an advocate for heart health awareness, particularly for Black women in Los Angeles. This community is disproportionately affected by heart disease and often faces barriers to early diagnosis and quality care. Cynthia has joined Cedars‑Sinai’s efforts with BlackDoctor to use her story to educate others on recognizing the often subtle signs of heart disease—like fatigue, nausea, or shoulder pain—and to highlight the life‑saving importance of CPR training in Black communities. Alongside Cedars-Sinai, Cynthia and other organizations are working together to underscore the importance of health equity; awareness, access, and advocacy can mean the difference between life and death in certain communities.
