5 Hair Care Tips Women Could Learn From Men

Table of Contents
hair care tips

I know I’m not the only woman who’s seen a guy with beautiful, strong healthy hair and wondered, “What is he doing that I’m not…”. While things like DNA and diet play a huge role in the health and appearance of our hair, there is no way possible that we could ignore how one takes care of it. I think it’s totally worth observing men’s hair care practices to improve on our own.

Here are some things that women can learn from the fellas when it comes to making sound hair care decisions.

1. Low-manipulation styling

Men don’t spend a lot of time fussing over their hair. They just don’t and this is probably why they experience such rapid and superb hair results. Women are constantly agonizing over their hair.

I always tell the women that I know if you cut your hair into a really cute hairstyle, you won’t have time to pay attention to what it’s doing because you’ll be too busy looking fly!

Men get their hair cut, look fly, and then when said hair starts looking questionable they return back to the barber to bring it all back together.

2. Little to no heat

While I am not on an anti-heat crusade, it is true that some women use entirely too much heat when they are styling their hair.

Not only are they over using the heat, but they are using extremely high temperatures to achieve their desired results.

Men use little to no heat and it’s obvious that there is a lot that women can learn from this.

3. Tension-free hairstyles

Outside of locs (which many men who rock them seek professional assistance for maintenance), men are not

wearing hairstyles that cause tension to their scalps, leaving them with sparse edges and excessive hair damage.

4. Regular salon visits

I’m aware that a lot of people like to DIY (Do It Yourself) and that’s cool! But some things, like hair cuts, need to be left to a trained professional.

I can guarantee that most men are not sitting around watching YouTube trying to perfect the most amazing lining you have ever seen. They’re not and so you shouldn’t either!

5. Trust thy hair professional to do their job

Most men just set up a time, show up and let their barber go to town…within reason of course. However, women like to over-direct their stylist to a point where they get in the way of the stylist doing their job and they are not allowing the stylist to use their best judgment when it comes to the overall health and appearance of the hair.

For example, if your stylist is not complying with your request to do a certain hairstyle trust him/her!  They are not hating on you, they just don’t want to see you hit the streets in a hairstyle that is not suited for your face, your fashion, or your lifestyle.

Most hair professionals have spent thousands of dollars to get educated and stay on top of the trends. Please know that she/he knows what they’re doing. They only do this day in and day out.

What do you think, ladies? Could doing less send you on a path to better hair results?
