While she continues her successful acting career at the age of 64 (yes, 64 hunny!), Angela Bassett has also been recognized for her beautiful body and outstanding fitness regime, which helped her command many of her starring roles.

These roles include the critically acclaimed What’s Love Got To Do With It, the hit series American Horror Story and now the award-winning Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Wherever the red carpet is, Angela looks incredible.

She shares her secrets to building a better, stronger body…even on a busy schedule.

Bassett works out at least twice a week with a trainer and she’s dedicated. “I will show up, ’cause I don’t want to waste my money. So I gotta be accountable and know somebody’s there waiting for me, because I know myself, and I will talk myself out of going,” she said.

“I go in the morning because my workout quotient will diminish as the day goes on. Maybe Monday, Tuesday, I’ll do cardio; Wednesday, Thursday, because I’m eating protein, I’ll do strength building; and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, when I’m eating all that fat, then it’s about deep breathing, a massage, yoga.”

“My goal with exercise is I try to do it more often than not,” Bassett says.

“Recently, I got a couple of my girlfriends together and we walked the Rose Bowl. It’s maybe a three-mile thing. It’s about showing up and accountability. You have to say, ‘Everyone will meet at 8:15 a.m.’ I know when I have a real plan then I’m there. If my friends are waiting, that puts a pressure on me not to disappoint them.”

But Angela even admits, it’s not just about the exercise. What really makes the difference is…

…her diet.

“You have to keep it interesting. Your diet and exercise. I like tasteful and passionate food. It has to be flavorful. You gotta eat. It’s one of our greatest pleasures, but you’ve got to eat yourself well, which is why I’m also organic.”

Her Arms

Angela prefers working out her arms with little weight and high repetitions.

Starting off in plank position you can do things like shoulder taps and push-up style movements.

Here’s a quick video that explains it all:

Her Thighs

Jumps Squats: This one move gets your entire body pumping, so do these about 10-15 times at least for 2-3 minutes. While in a squatting position, explode straight into the air, then land back into a squat position.

Step-Up With A Knee Raise: This move not only works the hamstrings, but the abs. Do a set of 15 (shoot for 20 reps) for each leg. To learn how to perform this move, click here.

Standing side kicks can strengthen your inner thighs and quadriceps for a firm and sexy feel. You can also try leg raises to get the same results just like Ms. Bassett.

Her Nutrition

Angela Bassett diet

Angela’s diet consists of potatoes and fish because they contain complex carbs and lean proteins.

She also eats lots of vegetables.
