Hate Mondays? Here’s How To Make Them Better

Table of Contents
Monday

When you wake up on Monday mornings, are you excited and ready to take on the new day or are you sluggishly getting out of your bed dreading another unfulfilled work week? If you’re in the latter group, you’re not alone. I think most can agree that the weekends never seem to last long before Monday has already made its unwanted return and you’re anxiously awaiting Friday to make its comeback. It’s understandable if you do feel this way, especially if you feel stuck working at a job you don’t enjoy for the majority of your week.

Having experience with working at jobs I didn’t like, I would loathe my Monday morning alarm clock reminding me to get up to go to my job where I felt unfulfilled.

Mondays were simply a jumpstart to another stressful work week. If you find yourself having similar feelings towards Mondays, remember you can make it just as amazing as you want it to be.

By implementing a few lifestyle changes, you can be on your way to giving Monday a new meaning. Here’s how to start loving your Mondays.

Plan ahead

Try to plan for Monday morning on Sunday night so when you wake up, you’re allowing yourself time to prepare a delicious breakfast, take the scenic route to work or simply enjoy some much deserving “me time.” Your workweek consists of you constantly showing up for others in some form, so it’s necessary to take some time for just yourself.

Set an intention for the week

Instead of going into the work week with the “same thing, different day” mindset, choose to have something to work on for the week. If you want to drink more water or focus on complaining less and being more positive, having an intention for the week gives you the opportunity to have something fresh to focus on.

Meditate

Take a few minutes to yourself before leaving your house to sit down and just breathe.

If you find that you’re short on time and can’t sit and meditate, listen to meditation apps on your way to work or throughout the day in your workspace if you can. Starting the day off with meditation creates a calm mind and can shift your perspective on the week ahead.

Be inspired

Fill your mornings with inspiration! Start your morning looking over your vision boards to help keep you motivated, listen to podcasts, blast uplifting and positive music as you get ready for work, or write down in your journal what your ideal workweek looks like. Whatever you love doing, schedule some time for it before going to work.

Start a side hustle

One common factor that makes Mondays so mundane, is routine. There’s nothing new or exciting going on so you’re stuck doing the exact same things you did last week, the week before and yep, you guessed it, the week before that.

If you find yourself constantly bored at your job, then now is the perfect time to start considering a side business. What do you enjoy doing? Is it something that can be of service to others?

If you’re great at drawing, create art and sell your work; if you’re a writer, start a blog. Thanks to social media, you’re able to brand yourself and build an interested audience that can potentially turn your side hustle into your main source of income.

You don’t have to hate Mondays, but if you find that you do, try reflecting on what you can change that will align your reality with what you want. Your life is what you create.
