Legendary hip-hop group, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, who brought us hits like “First of the Month, are coming togethr, not just for concert performances, but to surround one of their members whose facing critical life-threatening health issues. Founding member and rapper, born Anthony Henderson, is in the ICU at a Los Angeles-based hospital.
Krayzie suffers from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease in which the immune system overreacts, causing groups of cells to form clusters of inflamed tissue called “granulomas” in one or more organs of the body.
After Krayzie Bone underwent a cat scan, doctors discovered an artery was leaking inside one of his lungs. He underwent immediate surgery, but the bleeding didn’t stop. As of Sunday (September 23), Kray is purportedly on a breathing machine and sedated. Bizzy Bone took to his Instagram Stories with a simple message: “Pray 4 Kray.” He added, “Can’t sleep. Sometimes you just gotta pray.”
Sources added he quit smoking a few months ago, which seemed to signal something was awry. The troubling news is starting to spread on Twitter, with many sending their good energy Krayzie’s way.
“Afterward, we’re told Krayzie was placed in an induced coma — with the idea being that would help the healing process,” TMZ said.
But as the bleeding continues, another surgery is imminent.
Other members of the famed hip-hop group and even LeBron James have sent their thought and prayers to the 50-year-old on social media.
The musician was just in Cleveland in August when part of East 99th Street was renamed Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Way.
“I was diagnosed in 2012 and I had never heard of sarcoidosis,” Krayzie said in an interview in 2019. “I didn’t know what it was. When I was diagnosed, I was going on stage and I was coughing. It had gotten to the point where I was coughing in the middle of my verses and I was fatigued. And I was like ‘something ain’t right.’”
Sarcoidosis is the disease that comedian Bernie Mac died from and what Tisha Campbell currently suffers from.
The cause of sarcoidosis is unknown, but experts think it results from the body’s immune system responding to an unknown substance. Some research suggests that infectious agents, chemicals, dust and a potential abnormal reaction to the body’s own proteins (self-proteins) could be responsible for the formation of granulomas in people who are genetically predisposed.
There is no cure for sarcoidosis, but most people do very well with no treatment or only modest treatment. In some cases, sarcoidosis goes away on its own. However, sarcoidosis may last for years and may cause organ damage.
According to the Mayo Clinic, signs and symptoms of sarcoidosis vary depending on which organs are affected. Sarcoidosis sometimes develops gradually and produces symptoms that last for years. Other times, symptoms appear suddenly and then disappear just as quickly. Many people with sarcoidosis have no symptoms, so the disease may be discovered only when a chest X-ray is done for another reason.
Sarcoidosis can begin with these signs and symptoms:
“I just want to see Hip-Hop mature and be more kind and respectful to the artists that carry this genre,” Krayzie said earlier this year. “I want to see a balance between artists and corporations. It’s still young, but it needs to mature a lot. We need to realize and understand how to treat all legends like other genres of music.”
