Being a celebrity can afford us many of life’s rewards. However, fame doesn’t exempt us from health problems. Now more than ever, celebrities are speaking about their health issues.

Recently, “Wild ‘N Out” creator Nick Cannon revealed that he was diagnosed with lupus in 2012. At the time, the star developed pneumonia which led his cortisol levels to rise and his heartbeat to become rapid. His condition became more severe after he developed a kidney infection.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that major side effects of pneumonia include the inflammation of the lining of the lungs, kidney issues and joint pain. Adding respiratory problems to the equation only makes lupus more life-threatening.

Fortunately, Nick Cannon has found a way to live his life to the fullest. More importantly, the former rapper knows that it’s important for him to take care of his body. Not just for himself, but also for his family. His latest hospitalization gave him the wake-up call he needed: “Take care of you or you can’t take care of anyone else.”

Nick Cannon Makes A Revelation

The star has been on a straight and narrow path since his last hospitalization. Nick Cannon has since made a promise to himself that he’d never reach that low point again.

Unfortunately, he found himself back in the hospital on Dec. 2 after developing pneumonia again. Furthermore, the 42-year-old posted photos on Instagram of himself being hospitalized. The star spent the better part of the weekend being watched over by medical staff.

Cannon wrote in the captions, “Okay, so I guess I’m not Superman… I promised myself I would never be back at this place again… But this is a great lesson to take care of YOU or YOU won’t be able to take care of everyone else. Don’t trip though, I don’t need any well wishes or prayers, just some solid rest, and I will be back on the journey to becoming stronger than ever.” Cannon ended up doing exactly what he set out to do.

The Star Hits The Gym Again

By the very next week, Nick Cannon was back to his old self. During his latest Instagram live session on Dec. 12, Cannon shared that he’s ready to get stronger. The video also featured the star working out in the gym. Clearly, the “Wild N’ Out” star enjoys taking care of himself. Though, this isn’t the first time Cannon documented his workout sessions.

In recent years, Cannon has allowed fans to watch his workout session, which can include plyometrics and other bodyweight exercises. Back in 2019, Cannon told Men’s Health that he trains hard because, “You pull that truck and you feel like you could move a mountain. I feel like a new human after a workout.”

Not only does he enjoy feeling strong, but he also maintains a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, his recent hospitalization reminded him why it’s important to take care of himself, especially in these uncertain times.

“I had a lot of health complications and stuff that, if I was just doing what I’m supposed to do, I wouldn’t have gotten to that situation. It’s one of those seasons, but everybody is coming down with something, it’s a crazy cough out there, the RSV, COVID, influenza, pneumonia, like, I ended up catching it because of whatever reasons — not taking care of my body, trying to burn it on both ends.” At the end of the day, the entertainer fights hard to keep up his health.

Taking Care Of The Family

In addition to taking care of himself, Nick Cannon made the assertion that he has to stick around for his family. “Gotta stick around for them chirren,” the star said in the live stream. Cannon especially made it clear that he won’t let lupus control his life.

His words couldn’t be any truer, considering that the entertainer works a busy work schedule and cares for 11 children all at the same time. The star ended the live stream video by noting that he had to attend to his daddy duties, which involved taking his daughter Golden to school. The star knows better than anyone else that taking care of yourself is a priority, especially when it comes to caring for our loved ones.
