Skippy Foods LLC has announced a recall of a limited number of jars of certain lines of its peanut butter products because they may contain a small fragment of stainless steel from a piece of manufacturing equipment.
Just over 9,300 cases of SKIPPY Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, SKIPPY Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread and SKIPPY Creamy Peanut Butter Blended With Plant Protein were recalled.
The 161,692 pounds of peanut butter being recalled are from a limited number of code dates, which can be found on top of the lid.
The recall was voluntary and no consumer complaints have been associated with it. All retailers who received the affected products have been notified.
“There have been no consumer complaints associated with this recall to date, and all retailers that received the affected product have been properly notified,” Skippy said in the recall notice.
“Skippy Foods, LLC, out of an abundance of caution and with an emphasis on the quality of its products, is issuing the recall to ensure that consumers are made aware of the issue. The manufacturing facility’s internal detection systems identified the concern,” the company said.

No other sizes or varieties of SKIPPY® peanut butter or peanut butter spreads are included in the recall, according to the company.
