Her show, Tamron Hall, which premiered last year, won the Emmy for best informative talk-show host. Hall received congratulatory remarks from many of her television peers, including Whoopi Goldberg and Today co-anchor Hoda Kotb. Her show has also been renewed for another season and is already off to an incredible start with a revealing interview with politician Andrew Gillum and Avengers’ star Chris Evans.
Hall is a graduate of Temple University and a member of the board of trustees. She has also led shows such as MSNBC Live With Tamron Hall and Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall on Investigation Discovery. She left her most high-profile gig in 2017 after the segment of the Today show that she had anchored with Al Roker was canceled.

“Yeah, I’ll be 50. I can’t believe it. I’ve been doing this since I was 18, in some form or the other, but we will be there for my birthday. My team has a lot of surprises for me. We’re going to talk a lot about what it’s like to be a 50-year-old woman in 2020 and all of the differences from when my mom was 50 and all of that. I’m excited about it. It just falls in line with my philosophy on life. I’m going to embrace my wrinkles. I’m going to embrace the 5-0 as I’ve embraced everything else in my life.”
“We’re all inching forward, finding our way,” Hall explains to TV Insider. “I just watched a couple news stories about parents sending their kids back to school for the first time. We’re all navigating in this space, in different ways, clearly, but the uncertainty remains.”
“It’s like The Twilight Zone. I left my studio the first week in March, went back in [last] week, it felt like I had never left, but at other moments, it felt like I hadn’t been there in a year. I’m navigating it. I wish I had a clear way of describing my feelings, but what I’m trying to do is recognize and own that none of us know anything. All we can do, at least from my perspective, is get in there and try to show the people who watch our show each and every day that there’s a way to move forward, even with a daytime talk show.”
The show continues to rise in their ratings, despite a beginning that almost didn’t happen.
After severing ties with the Weinstein producer group after the very public arrest of Harvey Weinstein, Hall entered a new agreement with Disney–ABC Domestic Television to produce and host her syndicated daytime talk show. The show was picked up by ABC Owned Television Stations in late September 2018. In December 2018, Hearst Television picked up the show for stations in stations across the U.S., and on January 22, 2019, ABC Entertainment named Bill Geddie as executive producer for the show.
With more than 85% US coverage that includes 47 of the top 50 markets, the Tamron Hall show debuted on September 9, 2019.
Now, Hall has been open about battling criticism she has faced overworking after having a baby, telling Parents now that she believes the condemnation “usually comes from women who’ve been shamed themselves, so they pass it on.”
“It’s toxic. If you own your own space, then you don’t have to worry about mine,” she says.
Despite facing negative online comments over balancing a career with being a parent, Hall doesn’t “feel bad about saying goodbye to Moses” in the morning, as “it’s the reality of being a working mom.”
“I also love my job,” she points out, noting, “I mean, if I hit the Powerball, would they hear from me again? Probably not. But I try not to focus on the leaving part too much. I just give Moses a kiss and go.”
