How To Stay Cool In Summer

Being thick in the winter can be easy. All the fun layers, sweaters and cute jeans make it so easy to dress and for people who are a self-conscious, the fall/winter is an easier time for them.

Then summer comes and some of us thick girls can’t help but sigh at the impending doom of chub rub and under boob sweat.

It’s okay though, I got us!

Here are some tips for thick girls on how to stay cool in the heat or summer!

Deodorant

While deodorant is obviously something everyone needs, you can use it in places outside of your underarms.

A trick that I’ve learned over the years is that you can put some deodorant on your inner thighs so that it lessens the chaffing between your legs and it can also help those of us who sweat down there as well (make sure not to get it on the inside).

Shapewear

Shapewear is super helpful in the summer because it not only boosts confidence, it can help cool you down.

When your body is free and rubbing against each other, you sweat more. Having something to separate you and the clothing could be very helpful.

There are so many different kinds of shapewear, but my preference is the kind that allows for smoothing the stomach area and has shorts. Those kinds are perfect for wearing sundresses or a romper.

There are also shapewear items that are a full undergarment that lift the breasts, shape the stomach, and have shorts. Shapewear can be found in a lot of stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, TJMaxx, Marshalls, or online!

Don’t suffocate yourself

Ladies, while I know it’s easier said than done, do not layer a million things on in the summer. You’ll just be hotter.

I get that everyone’s level of self-esteem is different, and trust me I’ve been there and there are days where mine is incredibly low. Trust me though when I say that wearing all that black and long-sleeved this and that will not make you feel better.

Powder

Powder can soak up sweat and moisture. Personally, a brand I love is Arm & Hammer. I put it under my breasts, between my thighs and between some stomach rolls (if the outfit allows for it).

Cotton, cotton, cotton!

Cotton is an amazing material to wear in the summer. It’s a breathable fabric, which means while you may sweat, it won’t be as bad compared to wearing polyester or spandex. Cotton clothes and cotton undies are great to help with sweating!

Don’t be afraid to show skin!

We’re all over it – everyone deserves to show skin and it helps to keep you cool in the summer. A couple of fashionable ways you can start to show skin if you haven’t already, or if you’re ready to just dive in are: bandeaus, off the shoulder tops, rompers, sundresses, ripped Bermuda shorts/jeans, crop tops, kimonos (long or short) and skirts.

I understand that summer can be a difficult season for thicker women who society says should not show skin or they have just been taught to stay in layers, but that’s not true! Summer is hot, so you should do whatever you can to keep cool and enjoy yourself. Remember that anything you do is for you, and you only.
