(Photo by Paras Griffin/Getty Images for TV One and Urban One Honors)Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson has asked fans to pray for his mother following her hospitalization due to pneumonia and Covid-19.
The “Fast and Furious” star shared, via Instagram, that his mom, Priscilla Murray, was hospitalized in the intensive care unit with COVID-19 and pneumonia.
Gibson, 43, said he was in the middle of filming when he “got the worst phone call I’ve ever gotten” and told the director he needed to stop and pray.
“Please guys praise you pray and even write out the prayers in the comments so that me and my family can read and be encouraged,” he captioned a photo of himself taking a moment to pray on set.
‘I just had to ask the director let me pause for a second close my eyes and pray…. My mother is in a coma, in ICU, with Pneumonia and she caught Covid they got her so sedated she can’t breathe or even eat on her own…….,’ Tyrese wrote in the caption of the photo he shared with his 15.2 million followers.

He continued, ‘This has been going on all week I haven’t posted [ I’m doing it this time cause I feel helpless this is my cry for help….
“I feel helpless and need my prayer warriors to cover my mother please please keep her father God she’s got so much more to do,” he wrote.
(Photo credit: @Tyrese instagram)In a subsequent video, Tyrese shared an update from outside of his mom’s hospital room. He stated that she was in an “induced coma” and is giving her 6 or 7 different medications to help her fight.
“All I want is her to continue to inhale and exhale,” confesses Tyrese. “That’s all I want.”
He went on to say that “because of you guys’ prayers, all of my mother’s vital signs are up–just like that. As much as I post about good stuff going on, because I am human, I can also let you know about the challenges. I just want you guys to celebrate the wins. And when I get on the other side of these challenges, I want you to know that I give all praises to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
In pneumonia, the lungs become filled with fluid and inflamed, leading to breathing difficulties.
For some people, breathing problems can become severe enough to require treatment at the hospital with oxygen or even a ventilator.
The pneumonia that COVID-19 causes makes the air sacs in the lungs fill with fluid, limiting their ability to take in oxygen.
When COVID pneumonia develops, it causes additional symptoms, such as:
What’s more is that COVID pneumonia often occurs in both lungs, rather than just one lung or the other.
Additionally, the widespread inflammation that occurs in some people with COVID-19 can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) — a severe type of lung failure.
While most people recover from pneumonia without any lasting lung damage, pneumonia associated with COVID-19 can be severe.
Even after the disease has passed, lung injury may result in breathing difficulties that might take months to improve.
During COVID pneumonia recovery, your body first has to repair the damage caused to the lungs; then it has to deal with clearing leftover fluid and debris and, finally, scarring until the tissue is fully healed over — all of which come with unpleasant symptoms.

Back in 2015, Tyrese reported that his mother had been in critical condition with the support of a breathing machine.
But after asking fans for prayers and seeing her not being able to breathe on her own for eight days, Priscilla had gotten out of critical condition.
Tyrese was ecstatic about her improvement and gave credit to the glory of God:
“I’ve never had a doubt in my heart that God was real…… But it can ONLY be the power of the lord Jesus Christ that pulled her through…….. They took the tubes out, took her off of the breathing machines, and today for the first time in 8 days me and my mother TALKED….. Her first words were ‘Hi Son’”
