4 Ways To Detox Your Eyebrows

Since eyebrows frame your eyes, many people like to shape them to improve their look. Brow hairs are a much softer, more delicate follicle than the hairs on your scalp. This said, they’re just as susceptible to dirt, oil, and dandruff as the head on your head, but washing or scrubing them roughly may actually damage them instead of help.

Products seep into and block the follicles on your eybrows and prevent hair growth. And as we get older and start using more creams, we also see our brows thinning out. This is a direct result of the amount of we use on and around our face.

All this means is that they’re in need of a proper and gentle cleanse or detox to not only maintain a look, but to let the follicles breathe and help them grow.

Besides seeing a dermatologist or esthetician, who can advise you on how to keep your eyebrows clean, here are some natural ways to keep the hair and hair follicles on your eyebrows healthy.

1. Tea Tree Oil Detox
Do a deep clean with tea tree oil. Your eyebrows usually do not need more than a basic wash every now and then. But if you notice your eyebrows feel grimy or oily to the touch, you can do a deep clean of them with tea tree oil. Apply a small drop of tea tree oil on a disposable mascara wand or an eyebrow brush. Then, run the wand through your eyebrows in small circles.
Wash the oil off with warm water and pat your eyebrows dry.
You don’t need to deep clean your eyebrows every day, as this can cause dryness or irritation. Deep clean them once a week or when they appear dirty.

2. Coconut Oil Detox
Coconut oil is a great natural oil for cleaning your eyebrows and encouraging good eyebrow hair growth. Simply apply a small dab of coconut oil on a cotton pad. Then, run it through one eyebrow. Use a clean pad with a dab of coconut oil for the other eyebrow.
If you tend to use an eyebrow pencil or other products on your eyebrows, coconut oil is also a great way to clean off any makeup on your brows.

3. Salt Water Detox
Fill a glass with 1 cup of warm water and add 1 to 2 teaspoons of sea salt or table salt. Stir the water using…

… a spoon until all of the salt granules dissolve.

Insert a cotton ball into the salt water and hold it under until it is saturated. Gently dab the cotton ball all over each section of your eyebrows leaving it on for about two seconds with each dab.

Gently rinse the salt water away after doing both brows.

4. Tweezing Detox
One other thing when it comes to detoxing your eyebrows, it has a lot to do with tweezing and how you pluck or shape your eyebrows.

When using tweezers, it’s important to gently hold skin firm with your free hand while tweezing. This will result in less tugging and pain on the skin.

If the hair is just too short for tweezing, don’t push the tweezers into the skin. Scraping, bleeding or even scarring can result if you get a little too forceful with your tweezers. Having some hair is a better option than broken skin. Instead, just wait until the hair is a bit longer and can be easily grabbed
