Maryland Woman Butt Injection Death Ruled A Homicide

Maryland woman

In an effort to enhance her God-given beauty, unfortunately another young lady tragically dies at the hand of a non-licensed “doctor” while getting butt injections.

The death of a Maryland woman who went into cardiac arrest after receiving silicone butt injections in the basement of a Far Rockaway home this spring has been deemed a homicide.

The victim, 34-year-old Kelly Mayhew, drove up to Queens with her mother on May 30th to receive the silicone injections from a woman who regularly conducted the procedure out of her Far Rockaway basement. Kelly never made it back home.

After receiving the fatal injections, Mayhew started gurgling and struggling to breathe. Rather than offer assistance, the so-called surgeon allegedly fled the scene in a grey SUV, leaving the victim’s mother to to perform CPR.

The suspect’s name has not been released by the NYPD, although the News reports that she is currently living in England. Mayhew’s case is before a grand jury.

According to the medical examiner, Mayhew died as the result of a silicone embolism, or foreign clot in the blood stream. The fatal butt injection was reportedly her fifth.

Standard butt-injection surgery is a medical procedure in which a substance is injected into the butt to make it larger. The only FDA-approved method is the Brazilian Butt Lift and its tailored variations, where fat is…

… removed via liposuction from other parts of the body and transferred to the butt and hips to create a curvy silhouette. This method allows for fewer fat cells to be rejected during the transfer.

Other fillers and injectables like silicone and collagen are not FDA-approved to enhance the butt and are linked to serious consequences, like severe pain, permanent disfigurement, and death. Unfortunately, that’s what many of these young women are dying from–the other substances put in their body.

You may also remember a similar case of a woman in Dallas, 34 year old Wykesha Reid, who also received silicone injections, died of pulmonary embolization of silicone after undergoing the cosmetic procedure.
