5 Ways To Keep The Fire Burning In Your Relationship

No relationship comes without challenges, whether you’re married, dating, or in a short-term situation. But that’s the beauty of it, you learn and grow from each experience. Think of a relationship like a journey you are on with your partner each day, and to keep that journey going you have to light the match and keep the fire burning.

So here are our 5 tips to keep the fire burning in your relationship:

1. Communication

Featured on BlackDoctor

This is by far the most important tip to keeping the fire burning in your relationship. Communication allows you to know your partner’s wants and needs in the relationship. If you can communicate then half the battle is won. No relationship can survive without communication; otherwise, you’d be two people existing, but not relating.

2. Romance

Romance is far beyond buying gifts and going to dinner. Romance is a feeling. It’s intimacy and passion. It’s the touch of a hand, a kiss on the forehead, a good morning text. Romance is gazing into each other’s eyes and

saying “I love you” just through that gaze. Romance is about giving yourself and your love to your partner. Be creative, send your partner love letters, and ignite the flame.

3. Sex

Of course, sex can add flame to the fire, but beyond sex think sexual energy. Did you know that every time you have sex there is a transfer of energy? So, there can be a transfer of good or bad energy between two people when having sex.

Experiment with ways to increase the sexual experience with your partner. Consider Tantra, an ancient Indian practice that celebrates the body and enriches sensual pleasures. Tantra is fully sensual and enhances the sexual experience.

4. Revisit

Revisit the reasons why you fell in love with your partner in the first place. Sit with your partner, each of you writing down and completing the following:

Reasons I fell for you…
When I knew you were the one…
The moment I knew I was truly in love with you…

Once you’re done writing, look into each other’s eyes and

read what you wrote.

5. Appreciate

Appreciate and don’t take your partner for granted. Spend quality time together. Find ways to enjoy each other’s company. Show that you care, be open and vulnerable, cry, have fun. Know what you have is special and it can be gone at any moment. Remember, the small things matter.

In my personal experience, each of these tips has helped me nurse my relationship back together. I am currently in a long-distance relationship due to a job assignment and it has been hard, but by communicating and appreciating one another, we can keep the fire burning in our relationship.
