Rapper Nipsey Hussle died after being shot outside of his Marathon Clothing Company store in the city’s Hyde Park neighborhood along with two other people, according to TMZ. He was 33.

Law enforcement officials told the Los Angeles Times that he was shot multiple times and that the Los Angeles Police Department had the area where the shooting happened blocked off while they investigate the incident.

Hussle opened the Marathon Clothing Company where he was shot in 2017 on Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles. Most recently, he released a 2018 album ‘Victory Lap,’ which was his first and only commercial album release. It was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Previous to becoming a rapper, Hussle was apart of the Rollin 60’s Neighborhood Crips gang, one of the largest street gangs in Los Angeles, throughout his life. Since his rap career took off in 2008, he has also served as a community organizer, activist, and entrepreneur in Los Angeles.

In addition to an activist in the community, Hussle had also publicly said that he was in the progress of creating a documentary about famed holistic health practitioner Dr. Sebi.

Alfredo Darrington Bowman, better known as Dr. Sebi, was a Honduran herbalist and healer that was sought after many entertainers and celebrities. For decades Dr. Sebi claimed to cure all disease with herbs and a unique vegan diet.

In 1987, New York City charged Sebi with a criminal charge of practicing medicine without a license and for saying a cured all these different type of diseases when there was no cure. Dr. Sebi made the New York Attorney General look silly when he had 77 people come to his defense that he actually did cure. After the trial, the New York Attorney General sued for consumer fraud and prevented him from making therapeutic claims for his products.

Dr. Sebi was arrested for money laundering in March 2016 while attempting to transfer from a commercial flight from the United States to a private plane at the Juan Manuel Gálvez de Roatan Airport while carrying $37,000 in cash. On May 28th, 2016 he was arrested again, carrying $50,000, and taken into custody. He was first released…

pending a court hearing on June 6th, 2016, only to be re-arrested on money laundering charges. He was held for several weeks in a Honduran prison as his family was attempting to obtain his release and subsequently died en route to Hospital D’Antoni on August 6th, 2016.

The medical industry would stand to lose billions if not trillions of dollars if Dr. Sebi started to cure everyone of Diabetes, AIDS, and other diseases. Many believe that Dr. Sebi was killed to silence him, because his teachings differed from the medical establishment.

Hussle never met Dr. Sebi but was impressed with him and was a frequent user of his products.

Born as Ermias Davidson Asghedom, Hussle was of Eritrean descent from his father’s side and African American descent on his mother’s side. Hussle and American actress Lauren London welcomed their first child together on August 31, 2016. Both Hussle and London had children from previous relationships.
