Fall Fashion: 6 Layering Tips That Celebrities Swear By

Fall is in full swing and what better way to prepare than to brush up on your layering skills? Layering is about more than just style, it’s important as the weather drops to regulate our body temperatures and keep us warm.

If you or someone you know insists on summer fashion during the colder months, take a look at our 6 tips for layering. You’ll even notice that some of your favorite celebrities follow these tips too! They’re guaranteed to keep you comfortable and warm during the crazy transitional weeks ahead.

1. Your Basics

Featured on BlackDoctor

These are your socks, undershirts, camisoles, tank tops, thermals, leggings, knee highs, and

stockings. Your basics are thin and can very easily be accompanied by your main outfit like a blouse, t-shirt, jeans, joggers, or sweaters.

2. Best Fabrics

When choosing your basics or really any other clothing you’ll always want to go with the most natural fabrics. So, cotton, linen, silk, cashmere, wool, leather, and furs will be the best picks for not only staying warm but allowing your skin to still breathe while under all those layers.

3. Doubling Up

When it starts to really get cold, double up on the clothing that fits close to the body while pairing it with more loose but insulated clothing items. A camisole or tank pairs well with sweaters, leggings, joggers. If you’re a

die-hard jeans fan, one way to break the frostbite chill that comes through denim is to layer them with your favorite pair of leggings or long johns and make sure the jeans aren’t too tight!

4. The Perfect Coat

Now that you have the basics, you have to top it off with the perfect coat! What constitutes a good coat? For starters, one that has a zip closure, not buttons. Buttons still allow for some of that chilly air to flow through.

Next, it has to be a length that covers your body, not just to your waist and certainly not a cropped jacket! Lastly, it has to be well insulated. So, this means padded with down feathers or cotton that’s lined with

dry-wicking material. This way if you get a little too warm because it’s not quite winter yet, you won’t have to worry about being wet from any light sweating you may do.

5. Accessories

The first thing that makes most of us cold first is our hands. Make sure to grab leather gloves for great insulation and style, a beanie or skull cap that covers your ears, a nice thick scarf and plenty of leg warmers and footies to finish things off!

Winter is right around the corner, don’t wait to stock up on all of the necessities. Start by shopping around to find the perfect items for you and your family. A great place to start is here.
