Fire Safety 101: Adopt A Healthy Lifestyle

A hamburger and fries on a white plate

If you wanted to put out a fire, you might try to douse the flames with water, right?

Well then, would you simultaneously pour gasoline on the fire?  Hopefully not!

Yet, many Americans try to extinguish heart ailments, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and other preventable chronic diseases with prescription drugs, while continuing to eat the Standard American Diet (SAD) that is high in processed and animal based foods, saturated fats, salt, and sugar. The SAD increases body inflammation, promoting these devastating chronic diseases just as gasoline stokes a raging fire. In order to effectively put out a fire, we should first address its root cause. In the case of the most common chronic diseases in our country, this is a poor diet!

Please consider. If you noticed that everyone in your neighborhood was putting gasoline on their burning homes, offices, and churches, would that make you feel safer in your own gasoline drenched home? Would you feel better about the prospects for the survival of your family. Obviously, such a potentially deadly mistake by others would not confer any protection whatsoever to you or your family…nor do the unhealthful dietary habits of your friends protect you from chronic diseases.

So please protect yourself and your family, by embracing and advocating a low fat, plant based whole food diet, which can often extinguish smoldering flames of potential disease. The key to preventing and reversing chronic disease is a healthy lifestyle…

…a most effective fire safety technique, indeed !
