First-Time Mom? Here Are 6 Things No One Will Tell You

There are many things that an app or even an article can tell you about what to expect when expecting. However, not many describe the most blatant and obvious things that some of us may not consider before our little comes.

First-time mom? Here are 6 things no one will tell you:

You’ll be in pain before, during & after birth.

Featured on BlackDoctor

Ever heard of lightning crotch? It’s the pain you’ll feel as your pelvic bones begin to separate in your 3rd trimester.

We all know about the actual birthing part right? But what about the pain that comes along with the

long needle that goes in your spine if you opt for an epidural or have a c-section?

And after birth?

This is what some like to call the 4th trimester. It’s when your uterus contracts back to its initial size. This can be very uncomfortable and downright painful.

You’ll spend way too much time at home.

Whether you’re pregnant during the wintertime or in the middle of summer, you’ll soon become a homebody. Who wants to be pregnant, cold and outside? Who wants to be pregnant, hot and outside?

Home is where you can control your temperature and surroundings, so

home it is!

You should enjoy and embrace your pregnancy more.

I know, I know. Most of us say we’re excited to be pregnant, which we very well might be, but we forget to embrace it more.

This means it’s okay to wear that fitted maxi that hugs your bump just perfect. It’s okay to splurge on that maternity shoot you’ve been wanting. It’s okay to document every single moment leading up to the arrival of your little bundle of joy. Embrace it all, because it is such a vital yet temporary time.

You actually eat less.

Yes. You will

eat less!

Many people think that expecting moms will eat anything they can get their hands on, but quite frankly, this is not the case.

In early pregnancy, you can barely stand the smell of most foods or keep food down. Later in pregnancy, you can barely eat what you have in front of you due to the limited stomach space that is being taken up by baby.

You’ll get less sleep even BEFORE baby comes.

No one ever mentions not being able to breathe at night or the much more frequent trips to the bathroom. You’re sure to wake up at least 4 times each night to adjust your

bodyweight if you’re not peeing instead.

Your baby doesn’t need much.

Many articles tend to want you to spend, spend, spend!

The truth is, your baby doesn’t really need that fancy crib or even those personalized crib sheets. It’s all just extra stuff at the end of the day. Take it easy and just worry about the basics!
