Back Pain? Look At Your Feet (Here’s Why)

If you have pain or discomfort in your back, you might need to look down at your feet as the cause.

A normal arch creates an upward curve in the middle of your foot. Tendons and ligaments in your foot and lower leg help form the arch and stabilize it. Because your feet help support your entire body, having strong arches is important to your body’s health. When those tendons and ligaments weaken, your arch collapses.

Flat feet, also known as acquired flat foot disorder, result from your collapsed arch. When standing, the sole of your foot should not touch the ground completely. However, a fallen arch causes your foot to roll inwards and your entire sole comes close to touching the ground. Because your feet are the foundation for your body, flat feet can cause problems throughout your skeletal structure and can even bring your joints out of alignment.

With a fallen arch, your tendons and ligaments weaken and cause intense pain throughout your feet, ankles, and lower leg muscles, especially in the region of your arch and heel. Flat feet can also cause a weakened posture and discomfort through your hips and lower back.

For years, many people would just be content with the pain of flat feet and suffer in silence because they didn’t know that something could actually be done about it. But now something can. It’s called HyProCure.

HyProCure is a small titanium stent that is inserted into the sinus tarsi—no pins, screws or drills required. This repairs the misalignment at its root by keeping the sinus tarsi in an open stable position. This stops your ankle bone from sliding forward and off of your heel bone and keeps the rest of your body in its natural alignment. Problems from back pain are among the most common physical complaints of adults. In fact, it is estimated that there are over 1,000,000 back surgeries performed every year in the United States alone, with the leading complication being recurrence. HyProCure has the ability to correct certain back issues at their source without painful, invasive reconstructive surgery and a long healing process.

Not too many doctors are licensed and certified to do HyProCure, but one doctor in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area, Dr. Charlton Woodly is and has been doing it for awhile now.

“When your feet are misaligned, it leads to a chain reaction of misalignment in the body, affecting the knees, hips and back, often resulting in pain when standing, walking and running,” explains Doctor Woodly. “You can’t reverse misalignment by exercising, and many of the treatments out there will only help alleviate your symptoms.”

HyProCure has been known to fix this issue and have people back up and running within just a couple of months. To find out more about Dr. Woodly, click here.

Dr. Woodly realizes how difficult it is for dedicated athletes to everyday people to be slowed down from wear and tear on the body. Being a former Division I wrestler at Morgan State University in Baltimore Maryland and a practitioner of Brazilian jujitsu and other mixed martial arts disciplines, he is well aware of the need of minimally invasive procedures and non-invasive treatment options.
The doctors and staff at Woodly foot and ankle specialists are experts in minimally invasive procedures and regenerative medicine treatments. We offer a wide range of treatment options including but not limited to small incision bunion surgery, minimally invasive flexible flat foot correction, regenerative medicine and stem cell treatment options.
Our goal at Woodly Foot and Ankle specialists is to get you back on your feet as quick and painless as possible.
