It’s Never Too Late: Nick Cannon Joins Howard Class Of 2020

It seems like it isn’t just our kids who are going back to school this season, celebrities are going too.

Host, entrepreneur and business exec Nick Cannon announced on Instagram that he is joining the class of 2020 at Howard University.

The entertainment mogul enthusiastically shared a photo of himself propped next to a sign of the historically Black university decked in fall gear, complete with a designer school bag.

So, why college? If two #SoGoneChallenge videos Cannon posted on Instagram right after his back-to-school shot is any indication, he’s chasing a less materialistic life path, rapping, “It’s the money that makes (expletive) get ugly.”

“You can catch me up at Howard, get my college degree,” he continued.

Nick, who seemed overdressed for August in the capital, also seemed to be psyching himself up by posting several inspirational quotes about education, including one by the late Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Nick, who has twins with Mariah Carey, did not say what he plans to study. However, he is still keeping a busy schedule with America’s Got Talent and a zillion other projects, including the “If I Was Your Man” video he just shot with his rumored real-life love, Chilli Thomas of TLC fame. In the video, they are canoodling in bed. However, they’ve been more vague about their real-life relationship.

Nick isn’t the first entertainer to go back to college after finding success. Music producer Swizz Beats also went back to school and graduated from Harvard Business School after becoming a multi-millionaire for producing beats from everyone like DMX to Jay-Z and more. Also, this semester Tyra Banks is teaching a personal branding class at Stanford.
