Kelly Rowland at 40: In Her ‘Happy Place’

Kelendria Trene “Kelly” Rowland was affectionately known just as a member of the girl supergroup Destiny’s Child. Since then Ms. Kelly has made a name for herself and growing into her “grown woman” status. Like spring flowers, Rowland has blossomed into her own woman full of strength, courage, wisdom, with a perfect balance of grace and flyness.

When you have a career as long and successful as Kelly Rowland’s – spanning over two decades with chart-topping anthems like “Survivor” as part of Destiny’s Child and “Motivation” from her solo success – you pick up a few things along the way that outshine even platinum plaques (which she has many).

The married mother of now two boys has created a collection of fashionable workout gear, a makeup line to represent dark chocolate girls, in an advocate for heart health and fitness, amongst many more. Yet, with all of the stuff she has going on, family is most important to Kelly.

Rowland recently shared a tender family moment with her sons Titan and newborn Noah.

Just 21 days after giving birth to her baby boy Noah, the 39-year-old looked completely at ease in her new role as mother-of-two in a precious snap she posted to Instagram.

‘My Happy Place❤️ ❤️So grateful,’ the four-time Grammy winner captioned a photo in bed with little Noah in her arms and her six-year-old by her side.

“I still feel like I’m a work in progress as far as getting back down to — I have a goal in my head of how I want my body to feel” admits Kelly. “It’s not about how I want my body to look. I think that as women we have to really be cognizant of that because we shouldn’t want to specifically look like anything as much as we should feel good about ourselves. And whether that’s drinking a lot of water or eating foods that you know, may not cause [allergy] flare-ups. Like, I have to stay away from dairy because that causes flare-ups for me and sometimes in my allergies as well. But just like, really giving your body things that it needs as far as nutrition is concerned, especially after having a baby. Like, you’re pouring everything into your baby.

“The women out there are pouring everything into their relationships, their husbands. Some are still thinking about work, and it’s just important that you take at least 20 minutes a day just to pour back into yourself, whether that’s with working out, whether that’s with meditation, whether that’s with looking at yourself in the mirror at the top of the day saying, ‘I just had a child but I look DAMN good and I’m healthy, my child is healthy,’ you know what I mean? It’s just really like, just saying it out of your mouth, pouring back into yourself because the rest of the world will literally suck everything out of you that if you don’t take that moment for yourself you’re going to continuously feel empty.”

The singing sensation welcomed baby Noah with her husband Tim Weatherspoon in January 2021.

She announced the news on her Instagram page by sharing a heart-melting shot of Titan smiling down at his brother, who was resting in bed.

‘On the 21st day, of the 21st year, of the 21st Century, Noah Jon Weatherspoon Greeted us! We are truly grateful,’ Kelly gushed in her caption.

Noah was 19 inches long and weighed in at 7lbs 8oz when he entered the world at 8:13pm on January 21st.

It seems as though life has come full circle for Kelly.

“Ever since we were little, we were so on fire for our dreams. We never let anyone blow our flames out,” she explains. “Never give up on your dream… because you never know what the Lord can bless you with.”

And blessed she is.
