When it comes to celebrity New Year’s resolutions, Kevin Hart sets the bar high – vowing to spread his love for health and fitness, across the globe!

As fans may already know, the actor has been popping up in cities across the country, running impromptu 5Ks with hundreds, even thousands of fans. Only, according to the Get Hard star, what was once a hobby — which he kicked off a couple of years ago due to the high demand he put on his body doing stand-up — is now a movement.

“This year I’m going to try to get more people to run,” the 37-year-old recently told People. “It will be 5ks, 10ks, thinking about doing a half-marathon and a marathon. I put my action behind my words. It’s beach workouts, it’s runs, it will probably be bike rides. I mix it up and constantly keep it new, fresh and effective. The best way to top it is just doing what you did and try to do it better.”

While he admits getting his hands dirty wasn’t “something I did as a kid or that I did in high school — it’s something that as an adult I started, and I struggled with it in the beginning, but I stayed true to it and got better and better, and now I just love it.”

So much so, that the funnyman, who dropped nearly 20 pounds last year alone for his role in Central Intelligence alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, admits the most rewarding aspect about his 5k races has been seeing firsthand the impact they’ve had.

“The highlights come from seeing the reactions that people give from the actions that I’m putting out,” he added.

“When you have people that are telling you, ‘I got up today and I ran, and I did it because of you,’ or, ‘Hey man, I’m getting up every day and I’m working out and I’m taking care of myself,’ ‘I’m a cancer survivor and at one point I wanted to give up but watching you and what you put into your days makes me want to do more, and I’ve been doing it.’ Those are the things to me that count as the highlights. You really see that you have a positive effect on people.”

Up next, Hart will be inspiring minds and bodies alike, as he takes part in Rally Health’s upcoming HealthFest in San Fransisco on March 25, 2017. “I love to go distances,” he told People.

“It’s not only mentally soothing but it’s good for you — it’s good for your heart, it’s good for your lungs, and it’s something that you can do with a community. It’s not something that you conquer in one day, but you grow.”

Of course, this isn’t Hart’s first health initiative. Throughout the course of 2016, the newlywed partnered with Nike as part of their ongoing series, Inner Strength – urging people to make “time” to exercise every day. Leading by example, Hart revealed his workout routine is no laughing matter, stating that the key to success is, “no excuses, no days off.”

In fact, according to the blockbuster star, he won’t miss a training day, regardless of how much his work interferes with his routine. Why? Because adopting a healthy lifestyle makes you better, plain and simple.

“At the end of the day my body shouldn’t be comfortable. If I don’t have to sit down at the end of our workout – if I don’t need a moment, breathing as hard as I can, chest isn’t hurting for a second, then you didn’t do your job today,” said Hart of training dirty in a brief Nike promo shared in January 2016.
