As new information surfaces regarding COVID-19 and the COVID-19 Vaccine, many with chronic disease, such as sickle cell disease, question whether or not it is safe for them to get vaccinated. Since the release of the first two vaccines, experts have seen promising results so far, and the true benefits of the vaccine will be known as more and more people get vaccinated. After reviewing those initial results, experts advise those living with sickle cell disease to get vaccinated when it’s their turn. Negative reactions with medication have not been noted as of yet, however it is advised to stay at the doctor’s office about 30 minutes after vaccination just incas a reaction does occur.
