Every year Google releases its most searched topic lists, and one that I found to be interesting was diets. Though some of these diets I have no idea how valid they are in their success rate, I think it speaks to the mindset of the world that diets are even a topic worth searching!

20/20 Diet

This is the famous television personality and physician Dr. Phil’s diet regimen. It made the top of the list for most searched diet plans. The 20/20 portion of it signifies the 20 power foods that you rotate in and out of the diet through three different 30 day phases. These foods include items like coconut oil, eggs, prunes, chickpeas and tofu. The idea is that these power-packed foods boost your metabolism, while making you feel fuller and less likely to eat junk throughout the day.

Carb Cycling

According to celebrity dietitian Tanya Zuckerbrot, carb cycling is a great diet for losing weight. “The carb cycle diet is a plan that allows you to consume a higher amount of carbs one day and then limits carbohydrates the next day. It is a safe diet and encourages healthy, nutrient-dense foods such as whole grains, legumes, and fruit.” The basis of the diet program is phasing carbs in and out of your daily diet. You monitor your carb intake heavily and follow a strict pattern of intaking more and then intaking less on variable days.

Paleo Diet

This diet is all about following a strict eating plan. There are several food restrictions that are mandatory in order for this diet plan to work. It mostly focuses on boosting your diet in rich meats and vegetables, and completely ditching dairy, grains and sugar. This diet probably became so heavily popular after several celebrities admitted to doing it religiously. As most have said who take on this feat, your diet becomes pretty bland. The good, yummy things you are use to indulging in you must practice self-control and avoid them at all costs!

GM Diet Plan

Talk about corporate initiatives. General Motors rolled out a diet plan with the goal of helping employees lose a whopping 10-17 lbs a week! This is done through meal plans that take calorie counting very seriously. Switching between veggie and meat focused meals causes rapid weight loss. But is that safe? According to board certified physician nutritionist and doctor Melina Jampolis, no. Though the General Motors diet sounds amazing, it’s not sustainable . According to her, it’s “likely to leave you with zero energy and lots of water weight lost.”
