New Jersey high school senior Ifeoma White-Thorpe has a tough decision to make–which Ivy League school will she attend in the school?
That’s right. This brilliant young lady has been accepted to Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown.
White-Thorpe told WABC-TV she was shaking by the time she got the eighth acceptance letter. “I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight. I clicked it and it said, ‘Congratulations,’ and I was like oh my goodness!”
White-Thorpe, a hopeful future global health professional, told WABC that “so many of them have great research facilities, so I was like, I might as well just shoot my shot and apply.” She believes her love of poetry and writing helped her stand out.
The various acceptance letters are one of many big accomplishments White-Thorpe has had in her life. She won the national Selma speech and essay competition in 2015, has stellar Advanced Placement class grades and serves as her school’s student government president.
“I got into Harvard early action, so I figured I’ll just go there, so then I got into all the others and I was like, wait, now I don’t know where I want to go,” White-Thorpe said.
Her parents said that in the end, the decision is all hers. But, she noted that none of the schools where she applied give merit scholarships.
“I’m praying they give me some more financial aid or some money,” she said. “Shout out to all of those schools, please give me something!”
In addition to the 8 Ivy League schools, she was also recently accepted into Stanford University.
No matter what school White-Thorpe decides to attend in the fall, we know she’ll shine bright. Congratulations!
