Patti LaBelle’s Pie: “The Pie That Changed Black America”

pattipie

Singer and entertainer extraordinaire, Patti LaBelle has cranked out hits, jaw-dropping performances and award-winning vocals for over the past 3 decades. But over the course of only three days, fame has struck Patti again in the in form of her sweet potato pies. And it’s all thanks to a viral video by a young entertainer named James Wright

These sweet potato pies aren’t Patti’s first foray into the food market.

Wright, who had never tasted one of LaBelle’s pies, decided to support one of his favorite singers and bought five pies at once. This turned out to be a smart move because since Wright uploaded his video, the pies have been moving faster than Wal Mart can keep them. Due in large part to Wright’s first video — which has now been seen more than 7.5 million times on Facebook — demand for the pie has skyrocketed.

After cutting open the box and taking a bite, Wright began to sing LaBelle’s lyrics. He does a pretty good impression of her, too. The video began to make its way around the Internet, and of course, the big question was whether or not Miss Patti’s sweet potato pie could possibly be as good as Wright suggested.

And others have created their videos too. One video youtuber Chef N. D. posted reconfirmed that everyone he saw in walmart had multiple pies in their basket. In his review, he said that this pie taste so good its going to “change Black people’s lives.” Check it out below:

But there’s even been some haters to Patti’s success.

On November 14, the web site ReportQuickly, a web site that describes itself as…

…”a combination of real shocking news and satire news” published an article positing that hundreds of people had died after consuming ‘Patti’s Sweet Potato Pie,’ a brand of pie named for singer/actress Patti LaBelle:
