The Rx For Workout Boredom

Most medical experts recommend at least 30 minutes of daily activity. But…getting moving can get very boring after a while. Need a few ideas to remedy those times you get tired of the same old same old?

Get Your Body Spinning

Burn crazy calories in a room listening to loud music. If you don’t exactly live to exercise, and tend to not push yourself enough, a spin (cycle) class holds your hand every step of the way. No chatting, not much resting.

Roll Out
Roller skating can be a great workout. In fact, only 30-minutes of constant roller skating to your favorite music can burn up to 300 calories. So pack up your skates (or rent them) and head to your favorite skating rink to get fit.

Just say “Om”

If you like yoga, try spicing things up a bit (or a lot) with Bikram yoga. The room is heated to 105 degrees or more so your heart rate is higher than in a normal class. The heat also really helps increase your sense of flexibility. Even though the class is physically demanding, you really feel calmer when you leave than when you got there.

Run it out

Not everybody likes to run. But remember, running doesn’t necessarily mean sprinting around like an athlete. You can start out with mixing up a few minutes of walking and a few minutes of light jogging. As you get more comfortable (and you will), you can mixing running and jogging. The runs aren’t always easy and honestly I don’t love every single one, but I love the structure that training for a race gives me, I love the muscles I can feel in my legs even on a “fat day,” and I love that the first thing I do in the morning is something for me and me alone. I’ve met some wonderful friends through running, too

Stay on point

For quite a few people, dance is a passion. Most dance studios around the country offer ballet classes for adults, giving them a chance to unwind, stretch, socialize with others, and of course, get a workout.

Get your game on

Have you ever tried Wii Fit? If so, you can watch TV while you work out. The best part?…

…You’ll be so distracted, and having so much fun, you may not even notice how long you’ve even been working out for.

Kick some butt

One of the classic high-calorie burning go-to workouts is kickboxing. It gets your heart rate going and provides great resistance training with push ups, lunges and squats. Best of all, you can punch, kick and work out the day’s frustration. It’s a great way to relieve stress after a hard day.

Mix it up

Try just doing your own thing. Instead of doing only one type of exercise, do a few minutes of one type, then another; mix up the intensity/speed of your workout; listening to some great new music. The most important thing is that you keep moving! Consistency is the true key to stay fit and healthy.
