Sisters Network Inc. Hosts 10-City Breast Cancer Conference

 

Sisters Network® Inc. (SNI), today announced the next stop for 2017 National African American Breast Cancer tour, “Breast Health Matters” will be held at Huston Tillotson University on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  Registration is free and a complimentary lunch will be provided. The conference tour is being sponsored by Genentech and Cancer Support Community.

Sisters Network® Inc., is the only national breast cancer organization to host ten-city national breast cancer tour. Breast cancer survivors, advocates, clinicians, caregivers and the community are invited to attend interactive workshops and panel discussions addressing general breast health awareness information and key issues including The Importance of Clinical Trials, Breast Cancer Disparities, Metastatic vs. Recurrence and How to be your own Advocate.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among African American women. African American women are more likely to be diagnosed with larger tumors and more advanced stages of breast cancer despite a lower incidence rate. The five-year survival rate for African American women is 78%, as compared to 80% for white women.
