9 Signs You May Be Allergic To Gluten

With everyone going gluten free these days, you’ve probably contemplated on whether you should do the same. For those of you who may or may not know, gluten is a protein that’s found in many foods, particularly in wheat, rye, barley, cereal, and pasta. Studies have shown that even people who aren’t allergic or sensitive to gluten can still have adverse reactions. Here are nine signs that it may be time to ditch the gluten.

  • Digestive issues, such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches or migraines

  • Mood issues, such as anxiety depression, irritability, and mood swings
  • Inflammation, swelling, or pain in your joints
  • Hormonal imbalances, such as infertility, irregular menstrual cycles and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
  • Autoimmune diseases, including lupus, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. People who are intolerant to gluten often develop autoimmune diseases.
  • Keratosis pilaris, a skin condition that causes tiny bumps along the arms, thighs, cheeks, and buttocks. The bumps generally aren’t itchy or painful and are caused by long-term exposure to gluten.
