Texas to Distribute Additional COVID-19 Doses

In past weeks, Texas became the first state to administer 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine distributing nearly 50,000 doses per day.

This week, Texas will receive an additional 333,650 doses of the vaccine spread between 260 different healthcare providers in the state.

The main counties that can expect to receive additional vaccines this week are: Bell, Brazos, Burleson, Coryell, Falls, Leon, Madison, Milam and Robertson.

As typical protocol, healthcare workers, people 65 and older, residents of care facilities and those with high-risk medical conditions will receive the vaccine first. Healthcare officials have asked those still waiting for the vaccine to be patient in the process as they try to allow the supply to catch up with the demand.

Official do expect the number of vaccinations to increase to 75,000 per day in the coming weeks with doses available from CVS and Walgreens.

For those who have already taken the initial vaccine, Texas has ordered 500,000 second doses likely to be available soon.
