Tiffany Haddish Reveals She’s Had 8 Miscarriages

Tiffany Haddish

Actress Tiffany Haddish recently revealed that she has suffered eight miscarriages in her lifetime.

A recent profile in the Washington Post talked about how the actress from the new “Haunted Mansion” movie answered a phone call with her OBGYN and bared all to tell them that she had suffered her eighth miscarriage just a few days ago.

“Well, I’m going to be honest with you, this would be my eighth one. I’ve got a uterus shaped like a heart. It just won’t keep anything in,” Haddish explained to a nurse over the phone.

Haddish has been vocal about her fertility challenges to a certain extent over the previous years. She told Glamour “… if I get pregnant, that is all God—tearing down all walls, all barriers… Now, if that did happen, we’re gonna hire some help, then we’re gonna cry a lot… And I’m not gonna be ‘baby mama,’ I’m gonna be ‘wife.’”

For many women across the US, this is not an uncommon issue that can lead to fertility challenges. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a “ bicornuate uterus is described as heart-shaped, appearing to have two sides instead of being one hollow cavity. It’s a rare, congenital condition that can cause complications during pregnancy. It can only be treated with surgery.”

Having a bicornuate uterus can lead to a higher risk of miscarriages, preterm birth, early labor, and low birth weight. Many of these issues result from the fact that the uterus is not able to expand during pregnancy, and the pregnancy can not be held to term.

Therefore, those who have the ability to become pregnant with a bicornuate uterus must be extremely cautious throughout their entire pregnancy. This condition is typically presented at birth, which means there is nothing that can be done to prevent it.

While this condition can be treated with surgery, it is only performed under certain circumstances and exceptions. Unfortunately, not everyone is eligible for this surgery, even women looking to have children

The “Girls Trip” star understands that there are other alternatives to having a child besides having a child of your own. As far as becoming a mother, Haddish has looked into adoption over the years, as a way to achieve her goal. Being a child who has previously spent time in foster care, she is familiar with the high demand for adopted children in the current world. The actress previously shared on the Daily Pop podcast that she even took parenting classes to prepare.

“I’m taking parenting classes now to adopt… I’m looking at, you know, 5 and up—really, like, 7. I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own and talk. I want them to know that I put in the work and I wanted them,” Haddish said.

However, she still wavers with the idea of becoming a parent because of her busy schedule filming movies and other projects. Haddish expressed her concerns in the Washington Post profile explaining “ She thinks of her current life: the schedule so bursting with opportunities she doesn’t dare pass up in a late-blooming career that she worries any child of hers would do long hours with a nanny. Maybe it would be selfish to have a baby.”

Although she still continues to debate over the idea of becoming a mom, Haddish has remained confident in focusing on her career and accepting the outcomes that could evolve. We wish her the best on her current journey!
