UPDATE: Kevin Hart Fractured Spine In Three Places & In Horrific Pain

According to multiple reports, doctors repaired three fractures to comedian Kevin Hart’s spine after being rescued from a terrible Labor Day weekend car accident.

Sources with direct knowledge tell us Kevin’s Sunday night surgery involved fusing the fractures. Two of them in the thoracic section of his spine, and 1 in the lumbar. Although the procedure was a success, Kevin is still going through hell. We’re told he has to be heavily medicated because the pain is just that intense.

That being said, it could have been much worse. Lumbar fractures can often result in at least difficulties walking. But in its worst form it can cause partial paralysis of the arms or legs.

This update comes as newly released 911 calls reveal the horrors of the crash — and the seriousness of Hart’s condition, even though his team initially took him home rather than to a hospital. There are even reports that Kevin had a bone coming out of skin at the time of the accident.

“I don’t know what happened … He’s not coherent at all,” an unidentified woman calling from Hart’s home tells the 911 operator.

“He can’t move,” she said, stressing that he was “breathing” and confirming the injuries were to his back.

A spinal compression fracture like how Kevin seems to have, may start to gradually get worse and worse over time or come on suddenly and sharply. But regardless of how it happens, it’s important to let a doctor know about it early, especially if you’re a woman who is near or over age 50.

Most compression fractures — cracks in the bones of your spine, or vertebra — happen more frequently in women of older age.

  • Pain that gets worse when you stand or walk but with some relief when you lie down
  • Trouble bending or twisting your body
  • Loss of height
  • A curved, stooped shape to your spine

The pain typically happens with a slight back strain during an everyday activity like:

  • Lifting a bag of groceries
  • – Bending to the floor to pick something up
  • – Slipping on a rug or making a misstep
  • – Lifting a suitcase out of the trunk of a car
  • – Lifting the corner of a mattress when changing bed linens

Celebrities and fans alike are praying for Kevin and wishing him a speedy recovery. If there were any doubt, fellow comedian Tracy Morgan is proof that laughs can still heal after being in a bad accident.
