5 Natural Oils Your Skin Craves

You may think you need to invest in expensive skin care products to have healthy and vibrant skin, but you don’t. Many natural oils offer your skin a multitude of benefits. Not only can they be better choices for your skin with fewer chemicals and additives, but they can be more effective in providing your skin with anti-aging and antioxidant protection as well.

Here are five natural oils I bet you didn’t realize could make a huge difference in your skincare.

1. Hemp Seed Oil

Featured on BlackDoctor

Hemp seed oil often gets a bad name. There is often a stigma attached to it because people relate this oil to cannabis or marijuana. However, hemp seed oil has been used in the Eastern culture as a multi-purpose natural remedy for many years. This potent oil contains virtually no THC, which is the psychoactive element found in cannabis.

Hemp seed oil is an excellent moisturizer for your skin, nails and hair. It has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties helping with anti-aging of your skin. It is also soothing to your skin. If you are an eczema sufferer like me, hemp seed oil has also been shown to create a healthy barrier to external pollutants and irritants you come into contact with which can cause your eczema to flare up.

2. Jojoba oil

Make sure you keep this multi-purpose oil close by as it serves multiple purposes for your skin. Jojoba oil can help control dandruff, and its anti-inflammatory properties can help those who suffer from eczema and psoriasis. Jojoba oil is useful because it closely resembles sebum, the waxy substance our skin glands produce which also acts as a natural skin conditioner. When you use soaps or skin cleaning agents they can strip your skin of the sebum. Jojoba oil seals in moisture and creates a barrier to irritants. If you are looking for a moisturizer that you can apply overnight, you can warm up jojoba oil and massage it into your skin. The results are soft and smooth skin.

3. Avocado Oil

Are you looking for a natural sunscreen option? Researchers believe avocado oil is more effective than the artificial ones. Cold pressed avocado oil contains an active ingredient found in many skin and hair care products. It has one of the best abilities to moisturize among all of the oils. It helps to smooth the skin because of its high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, making it great for sunburned skin. The natural oils present in the avocado prevent the skin from darkening along with forming a protective layer all over the skin to protect it from sun exposure. This oil can help with eczema, too.

4. Geranium Oil

You may be aware of geranium oil for its holistic treatments around physical, mental and emotional health. But, Egyptians used this oil to help them have radiant and beautiful skin. Geranium oil reduces skin inflammation, making it great for acne treatment. This oil acts as a natural antiseptic and helps to heal skin wounds. If you have oily skin or issues with dermatitis or eczema, geranium oil can be a good alternative for you.

5. Coconut oil

Coconut oil offers a multitude of health benefits for your  skin. Coconut oil is found in many beauty products and is a natural antibacterial and anti-fungal oil. If you are doing work around the house and your hands often become dry, use coconut oil to help keep your skin moisturized. If you are looking for a pick me up to highlight your cheekbones when you apply makeup, you can sweep a small amount of organic coconut oil on top of your makeup. It will give your skin more glow. When you remove your makeup, you can use coconut oil so your skin won’t lose total hydration. Coconut oil can also be used instead of shaving cream to leave your legs looking hydrated. If you are an atopic dermatitis sufferer, coconut oil has been found to be helpful to aid with this ailment as well.

Are you amazed by all of the things that oil can do to help you have healthy skin? Now you have some healthy alternatives and the great thing is you don’t have to invest a lot to achieve beautiful results!
